Congress leader Jairam Ramesh calls BJP and AAP, the two sides of the same coin

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh launched a harsh attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of being "two sides of the same coin" and alleging a secret "collusion" between the two.

Today, Ramesh referred to AAP as the BJP's "B Team" and linked Anna Hazare's anti-corruption movement, which propelled AAP into prominence, to the RSS. "Who started the Anna Hazare movement? Where did they draw their inspiration from? It was the RSS," he remarked.

Ramesh clarified that the INDIA alliance was formed for the Lok Sabha elections and does not extend to the Delhi Assembly polls. He criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, claiming he rose to power by "lying" and dismissed AAP's governance. "The Sheila Dikshit government focused on Delhi's development. Over the past ten years, we've only seen empty promises and 'jumlas,' "he said.

On the occasion of National Voters' Day, Ramesh also raised serious concerns about the Election Commission of India (ECI), alleging a decade-long "organised attack" on its professionalism, independence, and impartiality. He attributed this to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. "Many of the EC's decisions have been challenged by Congress in the Supreme Court, but I regret to say the commission has not upheld transparency or independence over the last 10 years," he said.

The Delhi Assembly elections are set for February 5, with 699 candidates battling for 70 seats. Votes will be counted on February 8.
