With the Union Budget 2025 around the corner, the education sector anticipates transformative reforms to bolster infrastructure, accessibility, and learning quality. Last year’s allocation of ₹1.12 lakh crore laid the foundation by emphasizing digital learning initiatives, virtual labs, and a Digital University project. Experts now urge for sustained investments to modernize education.
Geeta Jayanth, Principal of Chaman Bhartiya School, highlighted the importance of enhanced funding for teacher training, experiential learning, STEM labs, and smart classrooms. She stressed innovation in pedagogy and collaboration between private and government institutions to propel India's education system toward global excellence.
The EdTech industry also envisions robust policy support to stimulate innovation and growth. Vinay Singh, Executive Director & CEO of Thomson Digital, emphasized the need for improved digital infrastructure, particularly in underserved regions. He advocated tax incentives for R&D in EdTech and subsidies for institutions integrating advanced technologies such as AI, AR/VR, and adaptive learning platforms. Singh also emphasized localized content and teacher training to foster inclusivity.
With the right measures, Budget 2025 could redefine education, making quality learning more accessible and positioning India as a global leader in education.
