Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has intensified his campaign against alleged electoral malpractice, accusing the BJP of “stealing” elections in Maharashtra, Haryana and Karnataka. Speaking at recent rallies, Gandhi claimed Congress has already presented “black-and-white proof” of voter fraud and vowed to unveil “more dynamic, explosive evidence” in the coming weeks. He pointed to irregularities such as fake voter entries, duplicate IDs, bulk registrations at single addresses, and suspicious additions to electoral rolls. In Karnataka’s Mahadevapura constituency alone, Gandhi alleged that over one lakh votes were “stolen.”
The Election Commission has asked Gandhi to submit formal affidavits and verifiable documents to substantiate his charges, warning that without such evidence, the claims may be deemed baseless. The BJP has dismissed the allegations as politically motivated rhetoric. Courts, too, have shown reluctance to entertain petitions without hard proof. Gandhi’s persistent accusations, however, have fueled debate over electoral transparency and voter list integrity. With promises of “explosive proof,” the controversy is expected to dominate India’s political discourse in the months ahead.
