A fishing boat belonging to Rakesh Gan caught fire early in the morning, around 3-4 AM, near the coast of Raigad district in Maharashtra. The incident happened 6-7 nautical miles from the shore, near Akshi in Alibaug. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but it quickly spread, putting the lives of all 18 crew members on board at risk.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Indian Coast Guard and Indian Navy immediately launched a rescue operation. Their quick response ensured that all 18 crew members were safely rescued from the burning boat without any injuries.
The Raigad Superintendent of Police confirmed the successful rescue and stated that further investigations would be conducted to determine the cause of the fire. The fishermen, though shaken by the incident, were unharmed and brought back to safety.
This incident highlights the crucial role of the Indian Coast Guard and Navy in protecting lives at sea. Their timely intervention prevented what could have been a major tragedy. Authorities are now working to understand how the fire started and to prevent similar accidents in the future.
For the fishing community, this serves as a reminder of the dangers of the sea and the importance of safety measures.
