Florida Doctor Reveals Surprising Foods That Fight Fatty Liver

Dr. Joseph Salhab, a Florida-based gastroenterologist known as "The Stomach Doc," emphasizes the importance of magnesium in maintaining optimal liver function. He notes that individuals consuming diets high in magnesium-rich foods tend to have a lower risk of developing fatty liver.

 

Here are some magnesium-rich foods recommended by Dr. Salhab:

 

Pumpkin Seeds with Avocado: Pumpkin seeds are among the highest sources of magnesium. Pairing them with avocado, which is rich in healthy fats and vitamin E, can enhance liver health.

Spinach with Olive Oil: Spinach is a leafy green high in magnesium and antioxidants. Drizzling olive oil over cooked spinach not only improves taste but also adds anti-inflammatory benefits, supporting overall liver function.

 

Dark Chocolate: In moderation, dark chocolate can be a delightful way to boost magnesium intake. Opt for varieties with at least 70% cocoa content to maximize health benefits.

 

Almonds and Cashews: These nuts are not only rich in magnesium but also provide healthy fats and protein, making them a nutritious snack option.

 

Black Beans: Incorporating black beans into meals can increase magnesium intake while also providing fiber and protein, beneficial for liver health.
