From Homemaker to Organic Farming Entrepreneur: How Sujata Agarwal Built a Thriving Startup from Her Balcony Garden!

In 2020, amidst the global pandemic, Sujata Agarwal from Odisha found herself with ample free time. Curiosity led her to explore hydroponic farming a method of growing plants without soil. Encouraged by her family, she began cultivating lettuce on her balcony.

Despite initial challenges, Sujata's persistence paid off, and she successfully grew her first batch of produce. This small victory ignited a passion for organic farming, prompting her to delve deeper into the world of hydroponics.

As she honed her skills, Sujata expanded her home garden to include a variety of microgreens and organic vegetables.

Friends and neighbors, impressed by the quality and freshness of her produce, began requesting her greens. Recognizing a growing demand for organic, home-grown vegetables, Sujata saw an opportunity to turn her hobby into a business.

Today, Sujata is the proud founder of "Bloom in Hydro," an organic farm specializing in over 200 varieties of microgreen seeds, saffron products, and other organic vegetables. Her product line includes Kashmiri saffron, Kahwah tea, face packs, and hair serums.

While she accepts orders for saffron and Kahwah tea from across India and internationally, her other products are primarily available within Odisha. Bloom in Hydro offers microgreen pots starting at affordable prices, making organic produce accessible to a broader audience.

Reflecting on her journey, Sujata emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive mindset and pursuing passions without specific expectations. She advises aspiring farmers to start with faith and curiosity, sharing, "I had no expectations of making any money out of it. Things fell into place as I kept chasing my curiosity and passion."

Sujata's story is a testament to how a simple interest can evolve into a thriving enterprise. Her dedication to organic farming not only provides her family with nutritious food but also contributes to the broader community's health and well-being. Through Bloom in Hydro, she continues to inspire others to explore sustainable living and the benefits of home-grown produce.
