In a chilling incident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, two minor sisters, Srishti (14) and Vidhi (6), were allegedly murdered by their cousin, Vikas, who slit their throats during the night. Their mother, Virangana alias Gauri, and father, Chhotelal Gautam, a lecturer at Jawahar Smarak Inter College in Mitai, were also attacked but survived with serious injuries. Gautam has been bedridden for the past year due to a paralysis attack.

The incident occurred during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday at the family's home in Ashirwad Dham Colony of Hathras' Sadar Kotwali area. Vikas, accompanied by an associate, arrived at the family's residence on the night of January 22. After dinner, they all went to sleep. Between 1:30 and 2 AM, Vikas and his associate used sharp weapons to attack the family, killing the two daughters and injuring the parents.

Gauri's cries for help alerted neighbors, who informed the police. The injured couple was rushed to the district hospital and later referred to a higher medical center. The bodies of the two girls have been sent for postmortem.

The residents of the colony revealed that Vikas was a frequent visitor to the family. While a family feud is suspected to be the reason behind the attack, police are investigating the motive behind the crime.
