Sheila Dikshit, Delhi's longest-serving Chief Minister, played a key role in shaping the city into a modern metropolis. Leading for 15 years, she overcame Delhi's complex governance challenges and left a lasting impact on infrastructure, public transport, and urban development.
Her leadership saw the expansion of Delhi Metro, making commuting easier for millions. She also spearheaded the construction of 65+ flyovers, including AIIMS and Dhaula Kuan, reducing traffic congestion.
During the 2010 Commonwealth Games, Dikshit revamped roads, introduced street beautification, and modernized the IGI Airport.
A strong advocate for clean energy, she pushed for CNG adoption in buses and autos despite opposition, improving air quality. She also privatized the power sector, reducing electricity losses and using saved funds to build hospitals.
Even in tough times, Dikshit remained determined. When a bridge collapsed before the CWG, she acted swiftly to fix the situation. Her vision and dedication made Delhi a world-class city, and her legacy continues to shape the capital today.
