Magicpin Takes a Jab at Ranveer Allahbadia After 'India's Got Latent' Controversy

The recent controversy surrounding YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, known as 'BeerBiceps,' and comedian Samay Raina on their show "India's Got Latent" has sparked widespread backlash, and a food delivery platform, Magicpin, has now entered the fray with a satirical ad.

The controversy began when Allahbadia made an inappropriate and provocative comment during an episode of the show, where he asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” This comment quickly ignited a wave of criticism across social media, with many accusing Allahbadia of crossing the line of decency in the name of humor.

In response to the outrage, Magicpin launched a cheeky advertisement featuring a tagline: "India's Lost Talent. Comedy ki limit honi chahiye par discounts ki nahi" (Comedy should have limits, but discounts shouldn't).

The ad cleverly depicted animated versions of the show’s panelists and subtly mocked the controversial content. The caption accompanying the ad read, "Can we get back the magic in comedy?" The ad quickly went viral, drawing attention for its bold stance on the situation and clever commentary.

The public response to the ad was largely positive, with many praising Magicpin for calling out the show’s problematic humor. Social media users echoed sentiments like, “Comedians need this type of humour!” and “Discount ki koi limit nhi hogi, ye toh comedy se bhi sahii hai” (There will be no limit on discounts, this is even better than comedy).

The controversy also gained political traction, with Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi pledging to raise the issue in Parliament. She condemned Allahbadia’s remarks, calling them “abusive language in the name of comedy.

” Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also weighed in, stating that anyone who crosses the limits of decency would face legal consequences. Following the backlash, complaints were filed against Allahbadia, Raina, and influencer Apoorva Mukhija.

The controversy sheds light on the ongoing debate over the balance between humor and respect in public discourse. While comedy often pushes boundaries, it is crucial to understand the impact such content can have on diverse audiences.

The response from Magicpin, political figures, and the public highlights the fine line that content creators must navigate when entertaining a wide-ranging audience
