The Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj witnessed an overwhelming crowd as millions of devotees flocked to the Triveni Sangam for the sacred dip. Police managed the influx by guiding thousands to holding areas and arranging meals, water, and tea for over 26,000 passengers waiting outside the railway station. To handle the surge, the railways operated 13,000 trains, including 3,000 special ones.
On Makar Sankranti, during the first Amrit Snan, helicopters showered rose petals over lakhs of devotees, creating a mesmerizing scene filled with chants of "Jai Shri Ram" and "Har Har Mahadev." Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath hailed the event as a testament to Sanatan Dharma’s faith, with over 3.5 crore devotees participating in the first holy dip.
Security was tight, with 10,000 personnel, NDRF water ambulances, underwater drones, and AI-enabled cameras ensuring safety. Spanning from January 13 to February 26, the Mahakumbh reaffirmed its place as the world's largest gathering of faith, drawing millions on key dates like Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya, and Maha Shivaratri.
