A viral post claims that drinking a small glass of orange juice before an ultrasound can “wake up” your baby for better imaging. But is this pregnancy hack legit?
Experts say it can help in some cases. Dr. Tripti Raheja from CK Birla Hospital explains that in the second or third trimester, a small dose of sugar from orange juice can gently stimulate fetal movement, making the baby more active and easier to capture on ultrasound.
However, Dr. Mansi Sharma warns against overuse. Orange juice is acidic and sugar-rich, which may cause discomfort or sudden fetal movement, making scans harder. It's not necessary in the first trimester, and water is usually the better choice to fill the bladder and improve visibility.
So, while a splash of OJ might help in specific cases, it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. Always check with your doctor first.
