At a rally in Delhi's Seelampur, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of being no different from Prime Minister Narendra Modi in making "false promises" and neglecting critical issues like caste census and reservation for backward communities.
Gandhi highlighted that both Kejriwal and PM Modi have avoided discussions on the caste census, a key demand for equitable representation. "Neither speaks about empowering backward classes or minorities. They want to keep the poor and minorities away from their due," he said, asserting Congress’s commitment to increasing the reservation cap if elected in Delhi.
Bringing up allegations of bribery involving Gautam Adani, Gandhi accused Kejriwal of remaining silent on corporate favoritism. “Kejriwal talks about a clean Delhi but delivers corruption, pollution, and inflation instead,” he added, criticizing AAP’s governance.
Kejriwal hit back swiftly, alleging that Rahul Gandhi had "abused him" during the rally. "His fight is to save Congress; my fight is to save the country," Kejriwal tweeted.
The tensions between Congress and AAP come amid an already fragile INDIA bloc alliance, with some Opposition parties rallying behind AAP. Meanwhile, Delhi is gearing up for its Assembly elections on February 5, where AAP seeks a third consecutive term, BJP aims for a comeback, and Congress strives for revival after years in the shadows.
As the electoral battle intensifies, the rivalry between Congress and AAP raises questions about the INDIA bloc’s unity and the future political landscape of the national capital.
