Ranveer Allahbadia reveals why he joined India’s Got Latent!

YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, widely known as BeerBiceps, was questioned for two hours by Maharashtra Cyber officials on Monday amid the ongoing controversy surrounding his remarks on comedian Samay Raina's YouTube show, India's Got Latent.

Why did he go on the show?

According to sources, Allahbadia admitted his mistake in his statement to investigators, explaining that he appeared on the show because Raina is his friend. He also clarified that he did not receive any payment for his participation.

He emphasized that YouTubers often collaborate and feature on each other's platforms, maintaining friendly ties within the creator community.

What Sparked the Backlash?

During the show, Allahbadia posed an inappropriate and shocking question to a contestant:

"Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?"

The remark caused widespread outrage, leading to multiple legal complaints.

Facing severe backlash, Allahbadia issued a public apology, admitting his comment was inappropriate and not even funny. In a video statement, he said, "Comedy is not my forte. I shouldn't have said what I said. I'm sorry."

Despite his apology, several cases were filed against him. Last week, the Supreme Court granted him interim protection from arrest but did not hold back criticism. The court called his remarks "vulgar" and labeled his mindset as "dirty", stating that it shamed society.

As part of the investigation, the court directed Allahbadia to cooperate with authorities and surrender his passport to prevent him from leaving the country.

Samay Raina, the host of India’s Got Latent, has since deleted all episodes from YouTube and has been ordered to appear before authorities soon.
