History has shown us that August 25 carries moments of change, both in India and across the world.
In 1917, India saw a turning point in its fight for self-governance within the British Army. On this day, seven Indian officers were granted the prestigious King’s Commission for the very first time. Until then, top military posts were reserved only for the British. This event marked the beginning of Indianisation of the Army, inspiring future generations to take leadership in their own land’s defense.
Meanwhile, in the world stage, August 25, 1944, became a symbol of freedom during World War II. On this day, Paris was liberated from Nazi occupation after four long years. French and Allied forces marched into the city, sparking celebrations and signaling the weakening of German control in Europe.
Both events remind us how August 25 stands for courage, freedom, and the hope of self-rule.
