Bangkok has emerged as the number one city for Gen Z in 2025, according to Time Out’s latest survey. Young residents love its affordable lifestyle, vibrant culture, and buzzing energy, making it the top choice worldwide.

Australia’s Melbourne claimed the second spot, celebrated for its diversity, inclusive environment, and thriving arts scene. Nearly 96% of young people rated its culture highly, making it irresistible for creatives.

Cape Town ranks third, drawing Gen Z with stunning natural beauty, exciting nightlife, and budget-friendly living. The city proves that fun doesn’t need to cost a fortune.

New York City grabbed the fourth spot with its excitement, walkability, and nightlife, while Copenhagen impressed younger residents for its social environment and love-friendly vibe.

Other cities making the top 10 include Barcelona, Edinburgh, Mexico City, London, and Shanghai, each offering unique cultural experiences, affordability, or modern amenities.

Time Out editor Ed Cunningham emphasizes that accessible arts and cultural scenes are the key: “A city must allow everyone to participate and enjoy events without breaking the bank.”

For Gen Z, it’s clear: culture, affordability, and lifestyle matter more than just fame.
