While February 14 is celebrated worldwide as Valentine’s Day, in India, it also marks a Black Day due to the tragic Pulwama attack of 2019. On this day, the nation was devastated by a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir that claimed the lives of 40 CRPF soldiers. The attack was carried out by the terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed, sending shockwaves of grief and anger throughout the country.
The suicide bomber, Adil Ahmad Dar, drove an explosive-laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy, causing a massive explosion. The nation was left in disbelief, and the incident sparked widespread outrage. In retaliation, India took a firm stand, condemning terrorism and urging the international community to hold Pakistan accountable for harboring groups like Jaish-e-Mohammed.
A few days later, India launched a bold airstrike on a Jaish-e-Mohammed camp in Balakot, Pakistan, sending a clear message against terrorism. This was followed by a tense aerial battle, during which Indian Air Force pilot Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman showcased exceptional courage.
The Pulwama attack remains a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by our soldiers. Each year, India honors the martyrs who gave their lives for the country. The nation continues to stand united in its resolve to fight terrorism, ensuring that the bravery of these heroes is never forgotten.
