Virat Kohli has officially announced his retirement from Test cricket, bringing an end to a legendary red-ball career spanning 14 years. Debuting in 2011, Kohli played 113 Tests, scoring 8,848 runs at an average of 49.15, including 29 centuries and a career-best *254.
As captain, he redefined Indian Test cricket leading in 68 Tests, winning 40, and becoming India's most successful Test skipper.
Under his leadership, India achieved a historic series win in Australia (2018–19), topped the ICC Test rankings for 42 months, and reached the World Test Championship Final in 2021.
In a heartfelt message, Kohli spoke about the personal journey of Test cricket - the grind, the lessons, and the gratitude he feels stepping away. "I've given it everything I had," he wrote.
Known as #269 in India's Test legacy, Kohli leaves behind a towering legacy of passion, resilience, and unmatched excellence in whites.
