The Indian Army provides several entry schemes that allow eligible candidates to join without taking a written examination.
These routes are designed for individuals with specific qualifications, such as NCC certificates, engineering or law degrees, or exceptional sports achievements.
1. NCC Entry Scheme - Candidates with an NCC 'C' certificate can apply directly and are assessed through an interview and medical examination.
2.Technical Graduate Course (TGC) - Engineering graduates can enter based on academic merit and face an SSB interview followed by training at IMA.
3. SSC Tech Entry - A Short Service Commission for engineering grads and postgrads, requiring only an SSB interview and medical test.
4. SSC NCC Special Entry - Similar to the NCC entry, this route allows NCC 'C' certificate holders to join after an SSB interview.
5. JAG Entry - Law graduates can join as legal officers in the Army through direct interviews and training at OTA.
6. University Entry Scheme (UES) - Engineering students in their final years can apply, with selection based on academic performance and interviews.
7. Army Sports Quota - National/international athletes can apply directly based on their achievements, followed by fitness and medical assessments.
8. Havildar Religious Teacher - Involves a screening process with a written test, interview, and medical exam for qualified candidates.
