Val Kilmer, the Hollywood heartthrob of the 80s, passed away on Tuesday night at the age of 64.
The talented actor, known for his striking resemblance to Jeff Bridges, battled throat cancer for over a decade and eventually lost his voice. His daughter Mercedes confirmed he died from pneumonia.
Though Kilmer once played Batman in 'Batman Forever', it was far from his most memorable role. He excelled in various genres, from biopics and westerns to thrillers and heist films, always leaving a lasting impression.
His final on-screen appearance was in 'Top Gun: Maverick', where he reprised his iconic role as Iceman.
Born in 1959, Kilmer faced personal hardships, including his parents' divorce and the tragic loss of his younger brother. These experiences shaped his choice of roles, often portraying real-life figures like Jim Morrison, Elvis Presley, and Doc Holliday.
Kilmer was known for his eccentric nature and had tense relationships with directors like Joel Schumacher and John Frankenheimer.
Still, he remained dedicated to his craft, working alongside legends like Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Marlon Brando. His legacy lives on in his unforgettable performances and the 2021 documentary Val, created by his children.
