A shocking case from West Bengal has come to light, where a woman allegedly convinced her husband to sell his kidney, only to run away with her lover using the money.
According to a News 18 report, the incident took place in Sankrail, Howrah district, where the woman pressured her husband into selling his kidney for ₹10 lakh, claiming it was for their daughter's future, her education and marriage.
Trusting his wife's intentions, the man agreed and, after a year-long search, found a buyer three months ago. He hoped the money would help secure his family's financial future. However, he had no idea that his wife had entirely different plans.
While the man was struggling to uplift his family from poverty, his wife was secretly building a relationship with another man, a painter from Barrackpore, whom she had met on Facebook. Their online romance soon turned into an affair, and once the kidney sale was complete, the woman took the ₹10 lakh and eloped with her lover.
When the devastated husband realized what had happened, he immediately filed a police complaint and managed to track down the couple's residence in Barrackpore. Accompanied by his 10-year-old daughter and in-laws, he went to confront his wife, but she and her lover refused to open the door. Boldly dismissing her husband’s pleas, she even threatened to file for divorce.
Despite emotional appeals from her husband, in-laws, and child, the woman remained unmoved. Under Indian law, the sale of human organs has been illegal since 1994, yet such transactions continue in the shadows due to a chronic shortage of donors.
