The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, warning of moderate to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms on Saturday, May 3. Following Friday's record-breaking 77 mm downpour- Delhi's second-highest May rainfall since 1901; the city witnessed widespread disruption. A house collapse in Najafgarh, caused by a fallen tree, tragically claimed the lives of a woman and her three children. In Green Park, a 25-year-old worker was electrocuted after touching a live iron gate. Flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport were crippled, with over 500 delays and three diversions. Roads such as Minto Road and RK Puram were submerged, with visuals of stranded vehicles flooding social media.
Friday's maximum temperature dropped to 29.1°C over 10°C below normal marking the coolest May day in two years. The IMD forecasts cloudy skies, strong winds, and intermittent showers through the coming week, urging residents to stay cautious amid the volatile weather.
