As Delhi heads toward the February 5 Assembly elections, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia is contesting his fourth election, this time from a new constituency. Confident in AAP's work and public trust, Sisodia discussed the party's vision, challenges, and strategies in an interview with The Indian Express.
Sisodia highlighted the distinct hurdles in this election, accusing the BJP of engaging in "substandard discourse," voter manipulation, and exploiting campaign resources. He expressed concerns over the Election Commission's perceived inaction but maintained faith in the democratic system. "We trust the people and the system to ensure fair elections," he stated.
Criticizing the BJP's campaign, Sisodia alleged their ground presence was limited to distributing money, shoes, and saris while lacking substantive leadership or an agenda for Delhi. He emphasized AAP's focus on delivering results, particularly in education, healthcare, and public services. "The trust Arvind Kejriwal and our governance model enjoy will bring us back," Sisodia said.
Regarding the party's relationship with the Lt Governor, Sisodia described BJP's use of the office to obstruct AAP's initiatives. "They object to everything — schools, electricity subsidies, even auditoriums," he claimed, while asserting AAP's determination to push through its agenda through protests or legal battles if necessary.
