The G7 nations have strongly condemned the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India, which killed 26 civilians, and have urged both India and Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint amid escalating tensions. In a joint statement, the G7- comprising Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, the US, and the EU called for “immediate de-escalation” and encouraged direct dialogue between the two nuclear-armed neighbours to ensure regional stability.
Following the attack, India conducted precision strikes on terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7. In response, Pakistan launched multiple drone attacks on Indian territory, which were successfully thwarted by Indian forces. The G7 expressed deep concern over the safety of civilians and warned that further military escalation could destabilize the region.
The Indian armed forces remain on high alert, countering aerial threats with advanced drone defence systems as both nations continue to monitor developments closely under intense global scrutiny.
