IIT Madras Unveils India's First Hyperloop Test Track!

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has launched India's first hyperloop test track, stretching 422 meters. Developed with support from the Ministry of Railways, this cutting-edge facility aims to push India towards a new era of high-speed transportation.

The hyperloop concept envisions passenger pods traveling through low-pressure tubes at speeds exceeding 1,000 km/h, potentially cutting travel time between Delhi and Jaipur to just 30 minutes.

The project has received backing from major industry players like Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Construction, ArcelorMittal, and Hindalco Industries, who have contributed to building and developing the test track.

Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw shared the milestone on X, emphasizing its significance. Looking ahead, there are ambitious plans to develop a hyperloop corridor between Chennai and Bengaluru, potentially reducing travel time for the 350 km journey to just 15 minutes.

If successfully implemented, hyperloop technology could transform India's transportation system, offering ultra-fast, efficient, and sustainable travel solutions.
