NCERT Adds ‘Operation Sindoor’ Module for Classes 3–12!

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has unveiled two new supplementary classroom modules titled "Operation Sindoor – A Saga of Valour" (for classes III–VIII) and "Operation Sindoor – A Mission of Honour and Bravery" (for classes IX–XII). These materials aim to educate students about India's strategic and disciplined military response to the April 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, presenting it not just as a retaliatory strike, but as a pledge to uphold peace and honor victims.

According to the modules, on May 7, 2025, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu & Kashmir. The Indian Army destroyed seven camps, while the Air Force struck terror hubs in Muridke and Bahawalpur. The module underscores that no civilian lives were lost, emphasizing that every target was verified meticulously to avoid collateral damage.

Moreover, the modules highlight the coordination among the Army, Navy, Air Force, and ISRO satellites, as well as advanced Indian defence systems like S-400, Akash, and MRSAM, demonstrating the strength of India’s integrated response. Beyond the military narrative, NCERT has incorporated the story of civil resistance and unity. The text recounts how local communities, including Kashmiri residents, rallied in solidarity closing shops, marching, and wearing black armbands to denounce terrorism and defy imposed stereotypes.

By integrating Operation Sindoor into the curriculum, NCERT is forging a bridge between contemporary national events and civic education, aiming to foster patriotism, awareness of defence preparedness, and a deeper comprehension of India's measured yet impactful response to terror.
