A shocking incident of violence occurred in Jaipur when a retired IAS officer and a bus conductor got into a heated altercation inside a low-floor bus. The altercation, captured in a viral video, occurred over a fare dispute and a failure to stop the bus at the correct stop.
On Friday morning around 11 a.m., 75-year-old retired IAS officer R.L. Meena boarded a bus from Jaipur to Nayla, purchasing a ticket to the Kanota bus stop. However, when the conductor refused to stop at Kanota, a dispute arose. According to Meena, when he asked the conductor to stop the bus, the conductor, angry over the fare issue, pushed him, slapped him, and even attacked him with a stick. Passengers onboard tried to intervene and protect the officer.
The incident was captured on video, which quickly went viral. Following the uproar, R.L. Meena filed a police complaint at the Kanota police station. Upon seeing the viral footage, the Rajasthan Roadways department took immediate action and suspended the conductor, Ghanshyam Sharma.
Kanota SHO Uday Yadav confirmed that Meena's complaint included details of the altercation, where the conductor pushed the officer and slapped him after an argument about fare and the bus stop. The video shows the retired officer asking the conductor to stop the bus and demanding a refund, after which a physical altercation ensues.
This incident is reminiscent of another viral slap case in November 2024, where independent candidate Naresh Meena slapped an SDM during a polling booth incident, which led to widespread violence in Tonk district.
