As December 31st approaches, people worldwide eagerly prepare to celebrate the arrival of 2025, with the moment of celebration varying based on time zones. Different countries ring in the new year at different times, depending on their geographic locations.
The first to welcome 2025 will be Christmas Island (Kiritimati Island) in the Republic of Kiribati, a small island in the Pacific. Shortly after, the Chatham Islands of New Zealand will join in the festivities. Following these islands, cities like Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand, along with Tonga and Samoa, will mark the start of the new year.
Next, the Pacific Islands of Fiji will celebrate, with Australia’s major cities, including Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra, lighting up the sky with fireworks. As the celebrations spread, cities like Adelaide, Broken Hill, and Ceduna will join in, followed by Queensland and Northern Australia.
The celebrations continue across Asia, with Japan, South Korea, and North Korea hosting their own unique festivities. Finally, Western Australia will join the celebrations, marking the continent's full entry into 2025. China, the Philippines, and Singapore will soon follow, lighting up their streets with joy and excitement as they usher in the new year.
