YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, has landed in hot water following his shocking comments on the comedy roast show India's Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina.
His crude and explicit remarks, where he asked a contestant about their private parts and even offered ₹2 crore for a sexual act, have triggered a nationwide uproar.
One particularly disturbing question, allegedly borrowed from a YouTube episode, further intensified the backlash: "Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life, or join in once to make it stop?"
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has strongly condemned the incident, questioning the moral degradation of online content. "Any abusive language in the name of comedy is unacceptable. What level are we stooping to? Just because someone has a platform doesn't mean they can say anything," she stated.
Chaturvedi, a member of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting's standing committee, has vowed to raise the matter in Parliament, emphasizing that Allahbadia, who has interviewed top politicians and even received an award from the Prime Minister, must be held accountable for his influence on millions.
The controversy has now drawn the attention of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), which has formally asked YouTube to remove videos featuring Allahbadia's offensive jokes.
The move comes after activist Yogendra Singh Thakur filed a complaint, denouncing the show's content as "highly objectionable and obscene." The NHRC has warned that such explicit material, freely accessible on platforms like YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, poses a serious risk-particularly to women, children, and impressionable young audiences.
As the outrage continues to mount, the debate over online content moderation and ethical boundaries in comedy has reignited. Will digital creators be held accountable for their words, or will such content continue unchecked? The answer may unfold in Parliament soon.
