India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire following days of intense military escalation, culminating in targeted strikes on terror camps and air bases. Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar announced the agreement, stating that Pakistan remains committed to peace without compromising sovereignty.
The ceasefire followed direct talks between both nations' Directors General of Military Operations and US-mediated negotiations, as confirmed by President Donald Trump. India's Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri affirmed that firing and military actions on land, air, and sea would halt from 5 PM IST on May 10, with further talks scheduled for May 12.
The de-escalation comes after India's Operation Sindoor struck nine terror camps of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen, prompting retaliatory Pakistani missile attacks. Both sides suffered damages, but tensions are now expected to ease. India remains vigilant, underscoring its readiness to defend sovereignty while ensuring no religious sites were targeted during operations.
