Punjab Police arrested popular YouTuber Jasbir Singh, who runs the channel Jaan Mahal with over 1.1 million subscribers, for allegedly being part of a Pakistan-backed spy network. Singh was reportedly in contact with Pakistani intelligence operatives including Shakir alias Jutt Randhawa and Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a former Pakistan High Commission official.
Singh, a resident of Rupnagar, is accused of espionage and participating in the Pakistan National Day celebrations in Delhi, where he met army officials and vloggers from Pakistan. He also traveled to Pakistan thrice between 2020 and 2024.
He was closely linked with Haryana-based influencer Jyoti Malhotra, arrested earlier for similar charges. After her arrest, Singh allegedly tried to delete records of his communication with operatives.
An FIR has been lodged at the State Special Operation Cell in Mohali. The arrest comes amid growing concerns over cross-border espionage and terror threats.
