Delhi is on its way to becoming greener! Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena and Chief Minister Rekha Gupta have started a bamboo plantation drive at the Bhalswa landfill. Their goal is to change this large garbage dump into a beautiful green area.
"We have planted 200 bamboo trees today, and soon, 54,000 more trees will be added," said LG Saxena. This project is an important step toward cleaning up the city and reducing pollution.
Bamboo was chosen because it produces 30% more oxygen than other trees and needs very little water to grow.
CM Rekha Gupta said past governments only made promises but did not take real action. She praised the current leadership for working hard to improve Delhi.
The Central government is also helping by using waste from the landfill in different projects, such as building parks and grounds. To ensure success, the government will check on the progress of this plantation drive every month.
"In just one year, this landfill will be a green space instead of a garbage dump," Gupta promised.
This initiative is a big step toward making Delhi cleaner and healthier. If all goes as planned, residents will soon see fresh greenery instead of trash piles. With strong efforts and smart planning, the city is moving toward a better and greener future, one tree at a time!
