In a recent exchange, Delhi's newly appointed Chief Minister, Rekha Gupta, responded to allegations from former CM Atishi regarding unfulfilled electoral promises. Atishi accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of reneging on their commitment to provide ₹2,500 to Delhi's women in their inaugural cabinet meeting. She stated, "The first day itself BJP started breaking their promises... they did not pass the scheme."
In defense, CM Gupta highlighted the swift actions taken by her administration, emphasizing the approval of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which had been previously stalled by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). She remarked, "We had a cabinet meeting on day one... and we cleared the Ayushman Bharat Yojana... We gave a benefit of ₹10 lakhs to the people of Delhi on the first day." Gupta further criticized the previous administrations, stating, "The Congress ruled for 15 years and the AAP ruled for 13. Instead of looking at what they did, how can they raise questions on one day of ours?"
This political discourse underscores the heightened tensions between the outgoing AAP government and the newly instated BJP leadership in Delhi.
