For the first time in six years, the historic Kaman Bridge, which separates India and Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri sector, was reopened under tragic circumstances. The bridge was used to facilitate the return of two young individuals who drowned in the Jhelum River two weeks ago.
The victims, a 22-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman, were swept away by strong currents, their bodies drifting across the Line of Control (LoC) into Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. After an extensive search, the bodies were found on the other side, prompting rare humanitarian cooperation between the Indian and Pakistani militaries.
In a solemn exchange, both armies collaborated to return the bodies, with officials and grieving families present at the border. The emotional event highlighted a moment of unity between the two nations despite ongoing tensions, proving that even in conflict zones, humanity can prevail.
