Powerless Delhi? Ex CM Atishi Slams BJP for 40 Outages in 3 Days!

New Delhi: Outgoing Chief Minister Atishi slammed the BJP on Thursday, February 13, 2025, accusing it of failing to maintain Delhi's electricity infrastructure. She alleged that within just three days of Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) exit from power, the city has been grappling with more than 40 reported power outages across various localities.

At a press conference, the senior AAP leader claimed that BJP’s inefficiency has already driven residents to purchase inverters. “Under the AAP government, Delhi's power sector was continuously monitored. Within three days of BJP taking charge, it has collapsed,” she stated.

Atishi further accused the BJP of attempting to replicate Uttar Pradesh's notorious electricity woes in Delhi, saying, “The BJP does not know how to govern and is driving Delhi into an era of prolonged blackouts, similar to what people in Uttar Pradesh have endured for years.”

The BJP defeated AAP in the Assembly elections on February 5, securing 48 of the 70 seats and returning to power in Delhi after a gap of 26 years. Despite this victory, the party has yet to officially form its government in the National Capital.

No official response has been issued by the BJP regarding Atishi's allegations. However, the sharp criticism has set the stage for a heated political debate, with citizens anxiously awaiting clarity on Delhi's power crisis.

The capital, known for its efficient electricity management under the AAP government, now faces uncertainty as BJP's governance comes under scrutiny just days after its electoral victory.
