NASA astronaut Sunita Williams has safely returned to Earth after spending 286 unexpected days aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Originally scheduled for just an eight-day mission, Williams and fellow astronaut Butch Wilmore were stranded in space due to technical issues with the Boeing Starliner. They finally returned aboard SpaceX's Dragon spacecraft, landing off the Florida coast on March 18, 2025.
Williams' cousin, Falguni Pandya, expressed excitement over her return and confirmed that the astronaut will visit India soon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also extended a warm invitation.
Before reuniting with her family, Williams will undergo extensive health checkups and rehabilitation. Meanwhile, her native village in India is gearing up for a grand celebration. Her curiosity about India remains strong she was particularly excited to hear about the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj. Williams' resilience continues to inspire millions, and her homecoming will be a moment to remember.
