This tiny habit won’t save your sugar levels—despite what everyone’s saying!

Many believe that drinking warm water after meals can help reduce blood sugar levels—but is it true? Experts say that while this habit may support digestion and improve nutrient absorption, there's no solid scientific proof linking it directly to a significant drop in blood sugar.

According to Dr. Shrey Srivastava from Sharda Hospital, warm water aids overall circulation and digestion, which could theoretically help the body handle sugar more efficiently. However, its impact remains marginal compared to essential factors like diet, exercise, and medication.

Dr. Narander Singhla of CK Birla Hospital adds that warm water might slow glucose absorption and stimulate the digestive system, promoting better nutrient breakdown. Yet, he emphasizes that this doesn’t make warm water a reliable tool for controlling sugar spikes.

Dr. Tushar Tayal agrees, noting that while warm water keeps you hydrated and may slightly boost metabolism, it shouldn’t be mistaken for a blood sugar remedy.

Experts unanimously agree that the best approach to managing post-meal glucose involves a fibre-rich diet, portion control, consistent physical activity, and medical guidance. Warm water can be a complementary practice, but not a substitute for lifestyle modifications.

As Dr. Amit Saraf and Dr. Pranav Ghody stress, warm water is soothing and healthy, but shouldn’t replace proven strategies for blood sugar control. Always consult a doctor before making health-related changes based on trends.
