Kavya Maran, CEO and co-owner of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has become one of the most recognized figures in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Born on August 6, 1992, in Chennai, she hails from the influential Maran family, which controls the massive Sun Group business empire. Her father, Kalanithi Maran, is the chairman of Sun Group, with a net worth of $2.3 billion (Forbes), while her mother, Kavery Maran, is one of India’s highest-paid female executives as CEO of Sun TV Network.
Her family also has political ties, with her uncle, Dayanidhi Maran, being a senior DMK leader.
Kavya pursued her undergraduate studies at Stella Maris College, Chennai, before earning an MBA from Warwick Business School, UK. She has been actively involved in SRH's management since 2018, influencing team decisions and auction strategies.
While her personal net worth is estimated at ₹409 crore, the Maran family's wealth stands at ₹19,000 crore. Sun TV Network acquired SRH in 2012 for ₹85.05 crore per year, and under Kavya's leadership, the franchise continues to grow in stature within the IPL.
