Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, accompanied by Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, participated in a holy dip at the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. The sacred ritual was conducted after a special Cabinet meeting held in the city.
Following the meeting, the Chief Minister shared a video of the ceremony on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing his commitment to the development of Prayagraj and surrounding regions. He announced plans for extending the Ganga Expressway to connect Prayagraj with Mirzapur, Bhadohi, Varanasi, Chandauli, and Ghazipur, ultimately linking it to the Purvanchal Expressway.
The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13 and will continue until February 26, 2025, has drawn millions of devotees and dignitaries. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also visited Prayagraj during the event, offering prayers at prominent religious sites, including the Akshaya Vat, Patalpuri Temple, Saraswati Kund, and Hanuman Temple.
The Maha Kumbh is a historic spiritual gathering that occurs every 12 years, attracting devotees from around the globe to bathe at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mythical Saraswati rivers. This year, the state government has emphasized sustainable development and enhanced infrastructure to accommodate the vast influx of pilgrims.
The Cabinet's focus on infrastructural projects reflects the administration's commitment to transforming Prayagraj into a modern spiritual hub while preserving its cultural heritage.
