In celebration of International Women's Day on March 8, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over his social media accounts to six remarkable women from diverse fields, showcasing their inspiring journeys and contributions to society.
1. Vaishali Rameshbabu (Chennai): A chess prodigy who began playing competitively at six, Vaishali achieved the title of Chess Grandmaster in 2023, making India proud with her strategic brilliance.
2. Dr. Anjlee Agarwal (Delhi): Founder of Samarthyam Centre for Universal Accessibility, Dr. Agarwal has dedicated over three decades to advocating for inclusive mobility and barrier-free infrastructure, especially in schools and public spaces, enhancing accessibility for people with disabilities.
3. Anita Devi (Nalanda): Known as the "Mushroom Lady of Bihar," Anita established the Madhopur Farmers Producers Company in 2016. Through mushroom cultivation, she has uplifted and created employment opportunities for hundreds of rural women, fostering financial independence and economic empowerment.
4. Elina Mishra (Bhubaneswar): A nuclear scientist at Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai, Elina is conducting cutting-edge research in nuclear science, contributing significantly to India's advancements in the field.
5. Shilpi Soni (Sagar): As a space scientist at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Shilpi is involved in pioneering projects that propel India's space exploration initiatives, inspiring many in the realm of space science.
6. Ajaita Shah (Rajasthan): Founder and CEO of Frontier Markets, Ajaita has empowered over 35,000 digitally enabled women entrepreneurs, transforming them into self-reliant business owners and last-mile distributors of essential goods and services, bridging the gap between rural markets and economic growth.
This initiative underscores the government's commitment to honoring 'Nari Shakti' and promoting women's empowerment across various sectors.
