The Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, continues to draw millions seeking spiritual enlightenment, but one individual stands out amidst the sea of sages and devotees—Abhey Singh, popularly known as ‘IIT Baba. Once an aerospace engineer from IIT Bombay, Singh’s journey from science to spirituality has captivated attendees and media alike.
Hailing from Haryana, Singh completed his degree at the prestigious IIT Bombay and briefly worked in the corporate world after securing a campus placement. However, his passion for photography, particularly travel photography, led him to explore a different path. “During this period, my philosophy about life began to change,” Singh recalls.
After leaving his engineering career, Singh opened a coaching center to teach physics. Yet, even this did not satisfy his quest for purpose. Over time, he turned towards spirituality, seeking deeper truths. Today, Singh identifies as a devotee of Lord Shiva and describes his spiritual awakening as an integration of science and spirituality. “Everything is Shiva. Truth is Shiva, and Shiva is beautiful,” he shares.
At the Kumbh Mela, Singh's ability to articulate complex spiritual concepts in fluent English and his scientific perspective on spirituality set him apart. His growing Instagram following of 29,000 reflects his appeal to younger audiences, as he shares insights on meditation, yoga, and ancient texts.
Singh's story of transformation from an IIT engineer to a spiritual guide resonates as an example of seeking fulfillment beyond traditional paths, blending science, art, and spirituality in a unique narrative.
