An 18-year-old girl from Bihar's Munger injured herself after her parents refused to buy her an Apple iPhone worth ₹1.5 lakh. She had been requesting the phone for months, claiming she needed it to talk to her partner.
When her parents denied her request due to financial issues, she locked herself in her room and slit her wrist.
Her family rushed her to the hospital, where doctors confirmed that her injuries were not life-threatening but needed proper care.
This incident highlights the increasing emotional attachment to technology among teenagers. Many young people feel pressured by their peers to own high-end gadgets, sometimes leading to extreme actions when their expectations are not met.
Experts suggest that parents should have open discussions with their children about emotional well-being and financial realities. Instead of seeing gadgets as a necessity, young people should be encouraged to value relationships and personal growth.
This case is a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and family support in today's digital age.
