US President Donald Trump has dramatically transformed the Oval Office, replacing its once minimalist aesthetic with lavish gold accents, grand portraits, and ornate memorabilia. The changes reflect his signature style—mirroring his Trump Tower office—with gilded Rococo mirrors, gold eagles on side tables, and even gold cherubs from Mar-a-Lago.
Trump has tripled the number of paintings, filling the space with nearly 20 portraits of American statesmen, including Ronald Reagan, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Franklin D. Roosevelt. A large Charles Willson Peale painting of Washington now dominates the fireplace. The Oval Office remains a stage for major moments of his presidency, including tense meetings, Cabinet swear-ins, and frequent press interactions. Trump described returning to the office as "One of the better feelings I've ever had."
While some admire his personalization, critics argue it feels "more king-like than presidential." Trump reportedly even considered installing a chandelier. Regardless, the lavish redesign solidifies the space as a powerful symbol of his administration.
