You, me, constipation, and Irrfan Khan—Piku is back in theatres

Bollywood's beloved slice-of-life drama Piku is set to return to theatres on May 9, 2025, marking its 10th anniversary. Starring Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, and the late Irrfan Khan, the film originally released on May 8, 2015, and was lauded for its heartfelt portrayal of a father-daughter relationship.

Amitabh Bachchan announced the re-release on social media, expressing his excitement about bringing the film back to the big screen. The re-release serves as a tribute to the film's enduring appeal and the cherished memories it holds for both the cast and the audience.

Deepika Padukone, who played the titular role of Piku Banerjee, has often spoken about the film's special place in her heart. In previous interviews, she referred to Piku as one of her most favorite characters, highlighting the unique energy and authenticity the film brought to her career.

The film also starred Irrfan Khan as Rana Chaudhary, whose nuanced performance added depth to the narrative. Irrfan's untimely passing in 2020 left a void in the industry, and the re-release of Piku offers fans an opportunity to celebrate his remarkable talent once more.

Directed by Shoojit Sircar and written by Juhi Chaturvedi, Piku was praised for its realistic storytelling and strong performances. As Piku returns to cinemas, audiences can relive the poignant journey of a daughter navigating her responsibilities while dealing with her eccentric father, a story that continues to resonate with viewers even a decade later.
