In today’s age of swipes, likes, and voice commands, it turns out the biggest threat to your relationship might not be your ex’s Instagram—it's ChatGPT.
People are now falling in love with AI chatbots so hard, they’re ghosting their actual partners. One woman, Kat, was shocked when her husband started outsourcing romantic messages about her—to ChatGPT. Apparently, he thought the bot could express his feelings better than he could. (Spoiler alert: It didn’t end well. For him.)
Another Reddit user recounted a tragicomedy titled “ChatGPT-induced psychosis,” where her partner became so emotionally entangled with AI, she had to compete with a chatbot for affection. That's right—she lost to a cloud-based neural network. We’re officially in the rom-com episode of Black Mirror.
Experts say this isn't just weird—it’s anthropomorphism, the psychological urge to see our Alexa as a shoulder to cry on. With AI getting better at simulating empathy, some folks are choosing bots over bae because, let’s face it, bots don’t forget anniversaries or leave their socks on the floor.
But before you panic, remember: ChatGPT won’t bring you soup when you’re sick, split a samosa, or make fun of your Netflix choices (yet). So maybe keep the chatbot for your existential crises—but don’t forget the human next to you.
