A tragic accident occurred on the Noida Link Road near Mayur Vihar in East Delhi during the early hours of Sunday, January 12, 2025. A black Mahindra Bolero SUV, traveling from Delhi to Noida, lost control after hitting the central divider. The SUV veered into the opposite lane, colliding with a white Maruti Baleno and subsequently overturning onto a white Tata EV taxi. The impact resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left one person seriously injured.

The deceased have been identified as Arjun Singh Solanki, the 45-year-old driver of the Tata EV taxi, and 63-year-old Suman Dhoopra, a passenger in the same vehicle. Suman's husband, 65-year-old Sanjeev Dhoopra, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital in Noida, where he remains under medical care.

The accident occurred around 1:15 am when the Bolero SUV, traveling at high speed, struck the central verge, causing it to veer into oncoming traffic. The SUV first collided with the Maruti Baleno, which was traveling from Noida to Delhi, before crashing onto the taxi. The driver of the SUV fled the scene immediately after the collision.

The police have registered a case at the Mayur Vihar police station under sections 281 (rash driving), 106(1) (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), and 324(3) (causing hurt by a dangerous act) of the Indian Penal Code. Investigations are underway to locate the absconding driver and determine the exact cause of the accident.

This incident has raised concerns about road safety on the Noida Link Road, particularly during late-night hours. Local residents and commuters have long voiced complaints about inadequate lighting and poor traffic management on this stretch. Authorities are urged to address these issues to prevent such tragedies in the future.
