Sugarcane juice is a popular drink in many tropical countries. It's known for its sweet taste and refreshing effect, especially on hot days. But is it really healthy?
Sugarcane juice contains natural sugars like sucrose, glucose, and fructose. It also has small amounts of protein, minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, and iron, and some vitamin C and antioxidants. A 240 ml glass can have 98–183 calories and 22–50 grams of sugar.
Benefits:
It helps you stay hydrated.
Gives a quick energy boost.
May help with digestion and keep your stomach healthy.
Contains antioxidants that can support the immune system.
It's low in fat and cholesterol-free.
Risks:
Very high in sugar, which can be harmful for people with diabetes.
Can lead to weight gain if consumed too often.
May cause tooth decay if oral hygiene is poor.
If bought from street vendors, it may be contaminated.
Sugarcane juice can be healthy if you drink it occasionally. One to two cups per week is safe for most people. Always buy from clean, hygienic places and enjoy in moderation.
