As India reels from the recent Pahalgam terror attack and military response under Operation Sindoor, the spotlight has returned to Pakistan's troubled terror legacy. Netflix's new docuseries American Manhunt: Osama bin Laden is reigniting global scrutiny of Osama bin Laden's secret Abbottabad hideout, located just 1.3 km from a major Pakistani military academy.
The compound, fortified with 18-foot walls, no internet, and burnt trash practices, remained undetected for years until CIA surveillance cracked the mystery using shadow analysis and on-ground informants. The raid on May 2, 2011, authorized by then US President Obama, led to bin Laden's death and sea burial.
With fresh evidence linking the Pahalgam attackers to Pakistani terror networks, the docuseries has gained political relevance. Pakistan's past is now echoing into present geopolitical conflicts reminding the world that history often returns in sharper focus.
