In a remarkable tribute to the indomitable spirit of Indian women, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled a unique initiative to commemorate International Women's Day on March 8, 2025.
During his Mann Ki Baat address, PM Modi announced that he will transfer control of his social media accounts, including X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram, to inspiring women from across the nation for the day. This gesture aims to amplify their voices, allowing them to share their journeys, achievements, and insights directly with a vast audience.
PM Modi emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, "This time on Women"s Day, I am taking an initiative dedicated to our women power. On this special occasion, I will hand over my social media accounts—X and Instagram—to a few inspiring women from our country."
This move is designed to showcase the diverse contributions of women who have excelled in various fields, bringing innovation and making a distinct mark in society.
Women achievers interested in participating are encouraged to share their stories through a dedicated platform on the NaMo App. This inclusive approach ensures that voices from all corners of the country have the opportunity to be heard. Selected participants will take over the Prime Minister's social media handles on March 8, sharing their experiences and engaging with a nationwide audience.
This initiative mirrors a similar effort in 2020, where PM Modi handed over his social media accounts to seven leading women from diverse sectors, allowing them to narrate their stories and interact with the public.
With millions of followers across various platforms, PM Modi's social media presence offers a powerful platform to highlight the achievements and challenges of women, inspiring others and fostering a culture of empowerment.
As International Women's Day approaches, this endeavor not only honors the contributions of women but also reinforces the commitment to gender equality and the celebration of women's achievements in India.
