The Trump administration has revoked over 300 student visas, primarily targeting international students accused of campus activism related to pro-Palestinian protests. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned of more deportations ahead.
The crackdown intensified after the detention of Turkish student Rumeysa Ozturk, who was arrested in Massachusetts for her criticism of Israel. Indian student Ranjani Srinivasan was also forced to leave the U.S. after her visa was revoked.
Critics argue that the move violates free speech and creates fear among students, while supporters claim it is necessary to maintain national security. With universities facing pressure to curb dissent, the debate rages on.
As uncertainty grows, many international students especially from India are now reconsidering their academic futures in the U.S.
