Amid US President Donald Trump's disapproval, Apple has confidently reaffirmed its commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative. Speaking at a business event in Doha, Trump stated he told Apple CEO Tim Cook not to build in India unless serving the Indian market directly. Despite this, Apple assured the Indian government there is "no change" in its investment plans.
India continues to play a vital role in Apple's global supply chain. Manufacturing giants like Foxconn and Pegatron have rapidly expanded under India's Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, helping iPhone exports reach record highs.
Industry experts like ELCINA's Rajoo Goel believe Trump's comments won't derail India's momentum in electronics manufacturing.
With India offering to eliminate tariffs on US imports, the government remains optimistic. Apple's sustained focus highlights India's growing importance as a tech manufacturing hub, solidifying its position despite global political noise.
